Marie & Matt’s Lancaster, PA Country Wedding

Matt and Marie's Lancaster Wedding Collage
I had a great time shooting Marie and Matt’s country wedding. Marie and Matt had their wedding ceremony and reception at The Country Barn on Donerville Rd in Lancaster, PA on Saturday October 12, 2013. Marie did a great job planning her wedding from the scenic location and gorgeous sunflower table arrangements to the yummy dessert station it was a really great wedding celebration.
After two weeks of no rain and unseasonably warm temperatures in Lancaster the weather took an abrupt turn just a few days before the wedding. By Friday night Lancaster was experiencing record setting rains. After consulting with Farmer Jim Marie and Matt were forced to move the ceremony indoors. Although it stopped raining late Friday night there just too much water in the cornfield for an outdoor ceremony on Saturday. We were still able to get some great photos outside around the barn on the farm. There is antique farm equipment everywhere and a cover wagon near the barn making for some nice country backgrounds. One of my favorite images is of Marie and Matt sitting on the hay bales with Marie’s dress pulled to the side so that you can see her cowboy boots. We able to capture some nice photographs and keep Marie’s dress out of the mud with help of her bridesmaids.
The DJ finally tracked us down near the cornfield so we headed inside for the reception before the guests got to hungry. Marie and Matt did their traditional first dance together followed by the dances with their parents. The bride and groom then danced a song with their children which I thought was a really nice touch. Dinner was a Pig Roast. After the dances Farmer Jim and his assistant paraded the pig through the barn to the carving station. Matt and Marie carved the first slice of pork which made for some cool photos.
